FMI Building Innovation (NSW Glass Division) is a leading manufacturer of high-performance glass products for the window industry. Our Smithfield site is growing, and we’re on the lookout for experienced Glass Processors to join our fast-paced production team.
If you have proven skills in bulk glass handling, glass cutting, toughening furnace operations, double glazing manufacture or glass industry related dispatch, we want to hear from you.
🔧 About the Role
As a Glass Processor, you will be responsible for processing glass to specification across one or more of the following areas:
Key Responsibilities.
We are filling a variety of roles across the following departments.
Bulk glass handling (incl. container unloading and crane operation)
Glass cutting (auto float and laminated cutting lines)
Auto arrissing line and buffer management
Toughening Furnace operation
Double Glazing production:
Spacer bending, desiccant filling, primary seal application.
Spacer application, quality checks, and defect identification
Secondary seal application (robotically or manually as required)
Finished goods preparation and truck loading.
Maintaining strict safety and quality standards
Interpreting work orders, labels and production lists as required.
🧠 About You
This is not a trainee role — we are seeking candidates with proven experience in glass processing or a related manufacturing environment.
Essential:
Worked in a manufacturing environment.
Physically fit – ability to lift (up to 20kg) and be on feet for extended periods.
Comfortable working with production machinery and tools
Strong attention to detail and ability to work to specification and instruction.
Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality and safety
Desirable:
Previous experience in glass processing: cutting, furnace, bulk glass handling, double glazing… or related manufacturing environment.
Have worked with lifting equipment.
Good communication and teamwork skills
Forklift licence (not essential)

Minimum requirement: steel-capped boots, long pants and high vis top
Task specific PPE as required (gloves, gauntlets, glasses and ear plugs)
