The Role
You’ll take full ownership of servicing our advanced glass-processing machinery—including cutting tables, tempering lines, IGU units, CNC equipment, pumps, conveyors, and associated electrical control systems. Your focus will be on ensuring maximum uptime, optimal safety, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance
- Plan and execute preventative and predictive maintenance across mechanical components and electrical/control systems (motors, drives, switches, sensors, PLCs).
- Lead breakdown response and root-cause fault analysis to get machinery back online swiftly.
- Repairs & Upgrades
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults (pumps, gearboxes, hoists, conveyors) and electrical issues (motor circuits, photo-eyes, motor starters, proximity sensors.
- Collaborate on installation and commissioning of new equipment or upgrades.
- Continuous Improvement
- Apply Lean, TPM or similar frameworks to reduce downtime and optimise asset performance.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Use CMMS systems to log maintenance activities, spare parts usage, labour hours, safety documentation, and record preventive maintenance outcomes.
- Maintain full compliance with Australian WHS legislation and internal safety standards.
- Training & Collaboration
- Mentor operators and team leaders in safe work practices, correct equipment handling, and basic fault-finding techniques.
Who We’re Looking For
An experienced, safety-first technician who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment:
Essential:
- 3+ years in industrial maintenance with combined mechanical and electrical responsibilities
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair both mechanical systems and electrical/control circuits
- Strong WHS knowledge and commitment to safe work procedures
- Excellent communication, organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Flexibility for shift work, including nights or weekends as needed
Desirable:
- Trade-qualified as a mechanic, electrician, fitter or registered technician in Victoria
- PLC experience and competency with servo/drives troubleshooting
- Experience within a glass processing or CNC machining environment
- Familiarity with CMMS tools
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams
